I'm Dr. Tilstra,
I earned a Bachelor of Science in Occupational Therapy in 1995, certified hand therapy credential in 2002, and completed my post-professional doctorate in 2018. I currently work at Walsh University as an Assistant Clinical Professor and Academic Fieldwork Coordinator for the Master of Occupational Therapy program. I have worked in a variety of settings including inpatient psychiatric care, acute care, inpatient rehab, skilled nursing, outpatient, and home health services addressing both physical and mental health dysfunctions. I have 10 years of volunteer experience in teaching and leading psychosocial groups for people with dysfunctional relationships, sexual traumas and/ or addictions. I teach continuing education courses at the local, state, and national level for occupational therapy providers and the community. I am actively involved in my local church including teaching, prayer team, and hosting services. I have been married for 29 years, have 3 sons, and 2 dogs. I enjoy taking walks, Zumba, crafting, and reading.
